Summary
The Market Lead manages market crew members and Steel Wheel Farm’s farmers markets and on-site farm sales. This person works closely with the Pack Shed manager, coordinating market production, shipments, schedules, and sales. This is a creative sales position and includes the responsibility of showcasing SWF products. In addition, this lead position requires an artistic eye, smiling face and passion for talking about vegetables! Other shared responsibilities include restaurant deliveries and weekly On-line market sales. This position will include participation in other daily farm tasks such as weeding, planting, and washing/packing produce.
Reports to: Assistant farm manager and farm owner
Supervises: 1-2 employees
Hours: May-December, 40 hours/week
Days: Friday-Monday
Responsibilities
- Prioritizes tasks, and delegates jobs to market crew
- Creates market collateral including signage and promotion
- Manages the On-line What’s Good Market sales
- Excellent driving record, must be able to safely drive to and from markets
- Wholesale delivery coordination
- Responsible for set up and displaying of market stands, on and off the farm
- Operates and maintains delivery/market van for cleanliness and food safety
- Clearly and accurately keeps records of sales, weekly market logs, returning inventory
- Participates in annual market vender meetings
- Harvesting, washing and packing produce
Requirements
- Food service experience is a plus
- Able to work independently and in groups
- 1-year sales experience
- Exemplar organizational skills
- Excellent customer service and clear communicator
- Good driving record and active license
- Some online computer skills for sales
- Ability to start and finish tasks daily
- Focused time management skills
- Artistic and creative eye
- Ability to work with many personality types
- Calm and positive, can-do attitude
- Able to lift 40lbs, twist, bend multiple times and enjoys physical labor
